Will You Accept My Rose?

Paper Rose Pop-up
In case you'd be interested in trying it, I've adapted Tatyana Stolyarova's fantastically easy and effective lotus flower pop up into a rose birthday card for my ballet teacher the other day. The petal strips were shaped differently and an additional row added to make the flower more full. The center pieces were shortened and shaped like hearts.

The pieces were made out of thick watercolor paper, painted with strong red watercolor, edged with magenta pastel chalk. The leaves were cut from two colors of watercolored coffee filter paper glued down to a card base.

What's nice about these cards is the surprise of a 3D flower bursting suddenly from a folding card. And of course, something being handmade (and from paper) means more than anything in these busy times. Paul tells me a lotus card I (badly) made two years ago still sits open on the recipient's desk where he works.

HI Fabien, Here's a link to the pdf for Tatyana's Lotus; http://r-i-w.tomsk.ru/rupopup/patterns/lotus.pdf

There isn't a pdf of the rose adaptation of her pattern I made, I just have paper pattern pieces. I'd be be very glad to cut you out a set and snail mail them to you though.

Feel free to email me at nobledesign[at]sbcglobal[dot]net and I'll get them right off to you.

It's really an amazing transformation from the lotus. Great job! It would be great if you can share the patterns someday. :)

Thank you, Tracy!

It wouldn't take me long to cut another set of the pattern pieces, if you'd like. (It might just be you and Fabien who would be interested.)

If a more people would like the pattern, it would make sense to make a pdf and post it. Any other requests?

Shelley,

If you upload a PDF, or even just a picture of the paper patern pieces. I'll sure use it!

I love papertoys, but lack the time & creative talent to design them myself.

My kids start getting the age where they can switch from 'Dad please download me another coloring page' to 'Can you please print me another PaperToy to Cut & Glue'

Last year my daughter & I used the lotus for a birthdaycard, it would be nice to send that person a rose this year :-)

I would love a pattern for the roses. I'm not very artistic myself.

I've got a wedding I'm going to in another couple weeks and this would be a great way to make a card for them.

Thanks in advance!

OK THEN!!!!

Thank you all for speaking up! I wouldn't have known it would be used. I will indeed make up a rose pattern pop-up pdf tout de suite!

It is super super easy--you'll all be rose making all over the place! Even inside the doors of your kitchen cabinets! hee.

I am blown away by this response! I'm starting the pdf tonight so I can share it as a birthday present to myself (30 minutes to September 3 aka birthday day...). Can't think of anything better than the treat of sharing something with creative paper loving friends. What fun!

Thanks, everyone!
