BigChief pocket toy

A free easy to build paper toy from the good folks over at BigChief Design.
Big mustache, uni brow, and trucker cap, what more could you want?
Kinda looks like my dad when I was a kid.
P.S. I think it's kinda nice to drop someone an e-mail of thanks if you download and enjoy a free paper toy off their site, maybe even send a pic of the completed model.

100% loading

It seems like paper toys are getting more popular among artist an designers. Here is a flicker page from 100% loading that has tons of different designers working on the same bear template. Here is the 100% loading website. This little bear could give vinyl designer toys a run for there money.
Here is the PP Republic site here that seems to have the template for download but no one can get it to work (sorry about posting this before I had a chance to try it.)
It would be cool if more of these "bears" were available for download.

NewNew from LouLou

OK so it's not that new but I love this free paper craft from LouLou.
We've mentioned LouLou's work before and when I came across a picture of this square badminton enthusiast on flickr I just had to post it.
Simple to build and such a funny character.

Another Paper Lamp

Matt's last post inspired me to finally track down this paper lamp I once saw in a local shop. The light glowing through the paper in person is a lovely sight. This one comes in several colors, but the simple white is my favorite. You can get it from Artecnica. Link

Pepakura Paper Model Maker

I know how my forest friends enjoy putting together interesting cool paper toys and models, right? Well, what if you could also CREATE your own special toys and share them easily with friends? Or create your own very special friends to share with toys? Either way.

While surfing the very stimulating Cool Tools site, I came across a link and review about a Free (Shareware) software for PC's from Tamasoft called Pepakura Designer, that can create perfect printable paper patterns from your own digital creations.

From an old hand with it, Charlie: "This tool creates a printable, origami-like pattern from which 3D models may be translated into paper "reality".

Here at the University of Texas, I write 3D games that deliver educational content for middle-school children. I use Sketchup as the starting point in my workflow for all the 3D buildings and many of the other objects that the kids move through, as they navigate within their virtual world. For $38, this gadget allows me to push my models through a color printer -- I fold the output and paste a few ends together with a gluestick, and I have something to hand to the kids as an incentive when they finish the program. They think it's neat to hold something in their hands that they had just been interacting with in the virtual world.

Nearly anything that you can model can be printed and brought into this world, in all of it's 3D glory."

It can be downloaded: here Enjoy!

Creepy Little Dragon

Okay- so I've seen this dragon floating around the web for some time, but never decided to post it until I saw THIS video that demonstrates the model's optical illusion. It is creepy. So it deserves a post. Get your pdf version of the model here.
