Kaleidoscope Flowers

Here's a link to a fun paper project that creates a moving sculpture. It's also educational because it is on a mathematics site. This piece reminds me of the Kaleidoscope Flower in Gay Merril Gross' "The Art of Origami". I used to make that model over and over because someone would always convince me to let them keep mine. I might add that this book is well worth buying if you are interested in origami, or curious and don't have any books yet. It's a beginner's book, but has some of my favorite simple, fun, and interesting models. It is out of print, but you can find used copies around. (Thanks Eva for the math ring link!)

You know, I usually take a few days to try out things you link to, but this was too tempting. And it worked. Amazing! One bored boy on a plane will be happy tomorrow. Thanks so much!

Cool, I remember reading about something a bit like this called a 'hexaflexagon'. Its just a long strip of folded paper that when 'flexed' it will show one of six different faces.

Yes- there are many hexaflexagons available on the web as well. Perhaps I will post some- but a quick google search will show you a number of them...
