I have had many people ask me about this Howl's Moving Castle model. I posted it several months ago, but the link no longer works and it seemed to have disappeared off the web entirely. I know I've made a few attempts to find it again, without luck. I even downloaded the file from the original Epson site, but the file would only open for as long as the link was up, and the file stopped working one day. I never had a chance to print it out. But there is good news because one of the readers of paperforest was able to pull together her resources, including the folks over at Smartgroups in the paper models group. They were finally able to help her (and all of us) out with this link. Just be sure to print it soon- you never know when Howl's Castle will be on the move again! (Thanks Leigh-Anne!)

why are you advising people to "print it while it's up" when it's easier to just download it?
plus, if your readers download it, then all of them will have a copy of it in case it gets taken down again, right?
I would have thought it would have been that easy as well. I download everything I post to this site and have never had a problem accessing these files until Howl's Moving Castle came along. I downloaded the file to TWO separate places on my hard drive and had accessed it several times but never printed it- but the file was an .exe file - and when I went back to print it a few months later, it was no longer accessible to me. Neither copy I saved would work. SO---this I why I suggested having a hard copy of one's own. Looks like this file is an actual pdf - so downloading this one should not be problematic. I'm still staying on the safe side this time - but thought I'd explain. Yes- I understand why my post caused confusion :)
thanks sooooooo much! > <" i'm always such a late bloomer and i just realized this existed and had my hopes dashed of ever finding the paper castle file!! soo excited! thnx thnx!! is it hard to make? may i ask for some words of wisdom? ^^
This is not one I've made myself- so suggestions would be hard to give, though others have had their share of frustration over this model. It's not an easy sculpture. There was a site floating around with some help and a few pictures, but I cannot find it again. You may still find some helpful advice floating around the web. My best advice on difficult paper projects is to work on them in small bits of time each day, instead of trying to sit for long stretches of time. Best of luck on the project!
Any news on where to get the MORE complex one?

oddly enough i've never had trouble with this file. then again, i had to get the "version for mac" at one point, and it was just a .pdf file. no embedded .exe crap.

I'm finally, actually, going to tackle this one.
BTW, despite it being A4 in size, I was able to print it out on letter sized stock with only the top letterhead line cut-off. So there's no need to get A4 stock.
Also, if it ever does disappear, I suggest using a file sharing program like emule to find it. When I couldn't find it before (I discovered it here but the link was broken) I just emuled it using a document filter. It even came with English instructions!

I picked it up from the Ghibli museum giftshop in Tokyo last year, it's a 100 page book which cost about 3000-4000Y. Hobby Link Japan used to sell it last time I checked: http://www.hlj.com/product/KDA64607 but now it's been discontinued :( Other places that sell Ghibli merchandise might still stock it, since hlj is a large site and tends to sell out of things quicker than smaller suppliers.
It's a great model, very challenging- especially since the in-depth instructions are in japanese, all I have to go by are pictures and part numbers :\
